About this app
NextApp is a Personal Organizer app using the well‑known “Getting Things Done” system described by David Allen in his famous book of the same name. (Note that NextApp is not affiliated with David Allen.)
NextApp incorporates ideas for personal productivity and oversight from other sources, such as the free and open‑source desktop application WHID (first released in 1998) and the free and open‑source Android app VikingGTD (first released in 2013).
In addition, we have added some gems to improve its usefulness, such as “Green Days!”.
The Android app can be a companion to the desktop app, with immediate synchronization between your devices. For many professionals, it’s faster to do the planning and organizing on a laptop or PC and then handle reminders and work on actions and appointments using the mobile app.
NextApp is open‑source and free software. The Android app is released under GPL‑3.0. The backend (cloud part) is released under AGPL‑3.0. The source code is available at [https://github.com/jgaa/next-app](https://github.com/jgaa/next-app).
NextApp requires a cloud backend to work. You can use the official backend from The Last Viking Ltd., with local regions in the EU and North America, free during the beta testing of the app, or deploy your own private backend if you have DevOps expertise.
Installing and trying the app is completely free. The app is ad‑free, and the user agreement (if you use our backend) gives you full ownership of your data and no fine print about us using it for anything other than replicating it to your devices.
