About this app

A click at a tempo you set. It is not a studio metronome and not a clip-on.

Every metronome in this category calls itself precise. None of them says how precise, on which phone, or over how many bars. This one does: it measures the distance between the beat it promised and the beat it played, adds it up over a hundred bars, and prints the result in milliseconds on the «about» screen — with the number of bars and the name of your phone next to it. Measured on a Samsung Galaxy S21: 1.1 ms per beat over 124 bars.

Set the tempo, pick a time signature and press start. The click stays on the phone; nothing is uploaded.

Wireless headphones deliver the click later than the speaker. By how much, this app does not measure — so it names the fact and not a number. For a performance use the speaker or a wired output.

No ads. No account. No network permission at all: the app has no way to send anything anywhere, which is also why it works with the phone in airplane mode.

Independent development: one person builds and maintains this app. A letter to [e-mail] is read by that person, not by a support desk.

What’s new

Rate without leaving the app. After the second open and a minute of real use, Play asks for stars in place. The outdated AndroidX versions Play flagged are gone.
