Night Timer plays endless, seamlessly looping sounds to help you fall asleep. Mix the sounds you like, set the timer, and when the time is up the sound fades gently to silence.
96 SOUNDS IN 9 CATEGORIES
Rain on a tent, ocean waves, a crackling campfire, a train ride, brown noise, a purring cat — the full list is below.
MIX YOUR OWN PRESETS
Play as many sounds at once as you like. Every sound in the mix has its own volume slider, so you can put the rain up front and keep the thunder far away. Save the mix as a preset and come back to it in one tap. A preset can carry its own timer, so one tap starts your own mix and the countdown together.
Your presets sit at the top of the screen, each shown with the icon of its loudest sound. Six are included to start with: Rainy Night, Cabin, Train Sleeper, Seaside, Deep Noise and Summer Night.
A TIMER THAT FADES
Pick a timer: 15, 30, 45, 60, 90 or 120 minutes, or any number up to 12 hours.
When the time is up, the sound fades out over 30 seconds instead of cutting off.
PLAYS WITH THE SCREEN OFF
Playback keeps going with the screen locked and the phone in a drawer. Start a mix, put the phone down, and the timer takes care of the rest.
QUIET BY DESIGN
No account, no sign-in, no ads, no tracking. The app makes no network requests of its own; your presets and settings stay on the phone. Three icon styles to choose from, all in a dark theme made for a bedside table.
SOUND CATEGORIES
• Rain & storm (12) — from light rain to a downpour, and rain on whatever is over your head: a tent, a window, a tin roof, an umbrella, a car roof. A dripping gutter, a thunderstorm, and thunder rolling far away.
• Water (9) — ocean waves on sand and on rocks, a stream, a river, a waterfall, a fountain, a quiet lakeshore, cave drips, and the muffled world underwater.
• Wind & weather (7) — wind on its own, in trees and through a meadow, a storm wind, a winter wind, rustling leaves and wind chimes.
• Nature & animals (12) — forest birds, crickets and a cricket chorus, cicadas, night frogs, a night owl, lake loons, seagulls, cooing doves, a forest at night, buzzing bees and a purring cat.
• Fire (3) — a campfire, a fireplace and a wood stove, each with its own crackle.
• Noise & hum (8) — white, pink, brown and green noise, a deep rumble, a fan, an air conditioner and a spaceship hum for anyone who sleeps best in a steady wash of sound.
• Travel & city (11) — a train ride, the subway, an airplane cabin, a boat, a car ride, a night drive, wipers in the rain, a distant highway, city traffic, a city at night and a coffee shop.
• Household (10) — a washing machine, a tumble dryer, a dishwasher, a refrigerator hum, a shower, a vacuum cleaner, a ticking clock, a garden sprinkler, a heartbeat and a singing bowl.
• ASMR (24) — close-miked triggers: page turning, a typewriter, keyboard typing, pencil writing, scissors on paper, a crinkling wrapper, rustling clothes, wood carving, hair brushing, barber clippers, a hair dryer, knitting needles, a sewing machine, a sweeping broom, washing dishes, a kettle boiling, kitchen prep, vinyl crackle, sleet on plastic, shoe polishing, a vibrating massager, tapping objects, squishy slime and playing cards.
Every sound is a true loop: the recordings are processed so that there is no click, no fade and no gap at the join. Rhythmic sounds (a clock, a heartbeat, a dryer) loop on exact beats.
All recordings are public domain or Creative Commons; the app credits every source.
Sleep sounds that loop seamlessly, and a timer that fades you to sleep.
