About this app

Moneon is an expense tracker and family budget app in one: log spending in seconds, plan your monthly budget and share a budget with your partner or family.

The core features are free, with no time limit:

💸 Expense and income tracker. Add your salary, bonuses and other income, log every purchase and see your balance right away. Expenses and income are sorted by category, so you always know where your money goes.

📊 Budget planner. Set a budget for a whole wallet or for individual categories and tags, and the app shows how much is left until the end of the month.

🏷 Your own categories and tags. Create categories and subcategories that fit you, and tag spending with labels like “vacation” or “renovation”.

👛 Multiple wallets. Personal money, the family budget and work expenses kept apart, yet in one app.

💱 Multiple currencies. Spending in another currency is converted to the wallet’s currency automatically.

🔒 A password lock, so only you can see your finances.

Premium adds:

👨‍👩‍👧 Shared wallets: a shared budget for couples, families, friends or colleagues. Everyone sees who spent what, and the others get a notification when a new entry is added.

✍️ Debts and loans. Who owes whom, amounts, due dates and partial repayments.

📈 Reports and export by period, category and wallet, as PDF or a CSV spreadsheet.

🏦 Expenses from bank SMS. Moneon reads the amount in your bank’s text message and adds the entry for you.

📸 A photo of the receipt or the purchase on any entry.

Ratings and reviews

It generally works. but feels more like a proof of concept than a proper app. Eg. you don't get to see all spending categories for a given month on the summary screen, and when you tap "all categories", it goes into the current month instead of all categories of the month you were looking at. You can't export your data, either. And plenty of minor annoyances (no dark theme support, spelling errors like "healtcare", etc.). All this makes it feel somewhat half-baked and unprofessional.

I couldn't interrupt the tutorial to change or check the settings (currency) before entering expenses. Had to uninstall the app. Then, after reinstalling, I have no ability to enable the tutorial at will, only skip it forever. It does seem like a minor gripe, but especially with the email registration right out of the gate, it's not great; I ended up with a different tracker that doesn't have either problems.

I payed for the premium service and overall the app is easy to use but disappointing. The main thing that helps me manage my budget is to clearly see my spendings in each category compared to its budget, and for some reason there is no such option on the app. Not practical enough

What’s new

Fixed SMS amounts on phones set to German, Spanish, Italian or Portuguese: 1,234.56 used to be saved as 123,456.

One unrecognized SMS no longer stops the others from being saved.

Subscribers see their subscription end date in Settings again.
