RA ThoroughbredID+ provides identification and traceability tools for the Australian Thoroughbred industry.,
Any user can identify a Thoroughbred by scanning its microchip with a compatible Bluetooth reader or by manually searching the system. This returns a digital ID card with brands, markings, and other specific horse details.
For authorised officials — including Stewards, veterinarians, and traceability staff — extended features are available to support verification and identification discrepancy reporting.
Features include:
• Microchip scanning & manual search – confirm a Thoroughbred’s identity using a Bluetooth reader or manual lookup.
• Digital ID cards – view brands, markings, and other specific details.
• Traceability – scan and record the address and GPS location of a Thoroughbred.
• Verification – confirm the identity of the Thoroughbred instantly.
• Discrepancy reporting (Stewards only) – Stewards can lodge reports if identification issues are detected.
• Role-based profiles – general users can identify Thoroughbreds; authorised officials have extended access.
RA ID Registration
Note: Access requires an RA ID. Many industry participants already hold an RA ID. Stewards and officials are registered internally by Racing Australia. Members of the public who don’t have one must register for an RA ID through myhorseracing.horse
