About this app

BARFLAB is a science-based raw feeding calculator and nutrient analyzer for dogs and cats. Build BARF, PMR and other homemade raw, cooked or steamed meal plans, adjust ingredient amounts, and analyze 68 nutrition parameters, energy values and key ratios live.

Create every diet from scratch with a broad food and supplement database. If you want a starting point, the optional Diet Generator creates a fully editable proposal using a dedicated calculation engine—not a chatbot or language model—so you stay in control of every ingredient and amount.

ANALYZE 68 PARAMETERS LIVE
BARFLAB analyzes 68 parameters as you edit the diet. Review energy, protein, fat, vitamins, minerals, amino acids, fatty acids and important proportions without moving between spreadsheets. Clear ranges help you notice what may need attention.

COMPARE AVAILABLE REFERENCE VALUES
For parameters covered by any of the three references, BARFLAB compares the analysis result with the available MR, RA and SUL values from NRC 2006, FEDIAF 2021 and AAFCO 2023. All three references remain visible separately and at the same time; if one does not define a threshold, BARFLAB does not treat the missing value as zero.

Build plans from a broad collection of meats, organs, bones, fish, vegetables, add-ons and supplements. See which products contribute most to a selected parameter, then change the diet and review the result immediately. Check product values and whether the data comes from a source or an estimate.

RAW, COOKED AND STEAMED
Cooking can change the nutrient content of food. BARFLAB supports raw, cooked and steamed plans and uses nutrient-retention estimates to help evaluate the meal after preparation, not only before it. These estimates support planning and are not laboratory measurements.
