Studio sets a Googlebook up for the camera. It is for creators, photographers and press with a Googlebook in front of a lens: one click for a clean screen, staged desktops, the lights at the right level and full-screen plates for the edit. One more click puts everything back.
CLEAN SCREEN
One switch hides every notification, sets dark or light and a clean wallpaper, holds the brightness and keeps the screen awake. The page says what Studio does, what you still check yourself, and what stays real: the clock and the battery in the status bar, which apps can't change.
SCENES
A whole desktop in one click. Four desks (Hero, Daylight, Colorway, Night) and three with windows: a browser with four tabs, a music app on a playlist, and the file manager beside the calculator. Then Studio steps out of the shot.
HARDWARE
The screen, the keyboard's backlight and the sound as sliders, with three presets (bright studio, dim room, dark room) and Stay awake. The Glowbar follows the screen; Studio shows each of its states as a demo.
CAMERA
Full-screen fields for setting the camera up: white, 18% gray, black, a focus chart, 9:16 safe zones and a slowly moving loop for B-roll. And the shutter speed that suits this screen.
PLATES
Full-screen fields to replace in the edit: green, blue, tracking markers on green or gray, 20% gray and black. They lock while they show (hold Esc to leave), hold their own brightness and come with three marker layouts.
THIS UNIT
Model, color, chip, memory, storage, display and build, read from the device. Copy them as text.
PUT IT ALL BACK
Everything Studio changed goes back: notifications, theme, brightness, screen timeout, sound, the keyboard's light and the sample files. Apps can't read a wallpaper, so when yours couldn't be kept the Googlebook's own comes back, and Studio offers the wallpaper settings.
WHAT IT ASKS FOR
Two things ask for your OK once, each with one switch in Settings, when you first use them: Do Not Disturb access, for Clean screen, and Modify system settings, for the brightness and staying awake. Studio has no accessibility service, no access to your files and no list of your apps.
PRIVACY
No account, no ads, no analytics. Your name is optional, is only used to say hello and never leaves the device. Studio goes online for one thing: it downloads a small file with updates and contacts for its Updates & feedback page. Nothing is sent. A bug report goes through the Googlebook's own Feedback app, which you send yourself.
Made for Googlebooks (Googlebook OS). So far it has been tried on an HP Googlebook 14.
