About this app

TT9 is a Nokia-style 12-key T9 keyboard. It provides predictive text input in 40+ languages, configurable hotkeys, clipboard, undo/redo, and extensive customization. It works on touchscreens, hardware keypads, and TV remote controls. And best of all, it doesn't spy on you!

Supported languages: Arabic, Bulgarian, Catalan, Simplified Chinese (Pinyin), Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Farsi, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Gujarati (phonetic), Hebrew, Hindi (phonetic), Hinglish, Hungarian, Indonesian, Irish, Italian, Japanese (Romaji), Kiswahili, Korean, Latvian, Lithuanian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese (European and Brazilian), Romanian, Russian, Serbian (Cyrillic) Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Swedish, Moroccan Tamazight (Latin and Tifinagh), Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, Vietnamese, Yiddish.

Philosophy:
- No spying, tracking, telemetry, reports, or data collection of any sort.
- No ads or unnecessary bells and whistles. It only does its job, typing.
- No unnecessary network connections. The Full version operates entirely offline, and the Lite version connects only to download dictionaries from GitHub. Voice Input may require Internet access, depending on the available voice services.
- Open-source, permitting you to verify all the above yourself.
- Created with help from the entire community.
- Things it will (probably) never have: QWERTY layout, swipe-typing, GIFs, and stickers.
- Not intended as a clone of Touchpal, Sony Ericsson, KaiOS, Samsung, etc. While it captures the feel of the classics, TT9 offers its own experience and won’t replicate any device or app exactly.

Thank you for understanding, and enjoy TT9!

Brilliant app, I've been typing on my cat s22, and it's as simple and functional as can be. The special key customization 🐢, the voice to text, and keyboard modes are great. Switching languages is quick and easy. The Spanish mode works as well as the English. The biggest thing I want is customizable key sounds, but that could be out of the scope of this app. I've been using this for 2 months. Using the time it took to type these words, my WPM on here is about 9.5 🌝

Thanks for the positive feedback and the suggestion! I've considered adding key sounds for touchscreen use, but I've never thought they could be useful for devices with physical keypads.

I believe you are in good faith, but could you give your users a bit more details on the data you collect? Android pops out a spooky message that the app (potentially) could collect data on every word I type, including my credit card etc. A bit more context would put any concerns at ease.

I understand the concern. This warning appears for all third-party keyboards, not only TT9. Rest assured it does not collect or send any data—everything you type stays on your device. Only voice input is processed by the Android system. But if you don’t use it, you’re completely safe. See Settings -> Privacy Policy for full details.

Keyboard is good and intuitive, with some little things that aren't ideal but are workable (ex. you can only choose between all caps or all miniscule). My one main issue with it is that you can't turn off the key tones in the settings on CatS22; in order to silence them, you have to also silence the ringtone of your phone. Otherwise, solid.

TT9 can not play sounds. What you are hearing comes from Android, or some other app. As for typing, in Predictive mode, there is a third option--to automatically capitalize words at the beginning of a sentence, proper names etc. To use it, press Shift several times until the language name in the Status Bar becomes capitalized (e.g. "English").
