About this app

CoinTrue is a coin identifier and coin value checker. Point your camera at a coin, and the coin scanner tells you what it is and what it is worth — as a range, with the reasoning behind it, not a single invented number.

WHAT IT DOES

Coin scanner, both sides
Photograph the obverse and the reverse. The date, the mint mark and the design sit on different faces, and no coin can be identified honestly from just one of them.

A value range, not a fake price
Every result shows a low and a high, a confidence level, and a short "why" — what the estimate is based on. Coin prices genuinely move with condition and demand. Anything that hands you one exact number is guessing on your behalf.

Coin grading, on a ladder
See where your coin sits on the condition scale, and what the next rung would be worth. Grading is where most of a rare coin's value lives, so it is shown as a scale rather than a verdict.

Ask about your coin
Ask a follow-up in plain language and get an answer about the coin you just scanned — the die variety, the mint mark, why the range is wide.

Live spot price
Live metal prices per gram, so you can work out melt value on silver coins yourself. It is the one number here that is not an estimate, and it is labelled that way.

Your collection
Save what you scan into a wooden display tray. Search your coin collection, undo a mistake, share a single coin or the whole tray as an image.

When a scan will not work
Blurry, too dark, or not a coin — you are told which, your photo is kept, and retrying does not cost you a scan.

WORKS ON
Old coins and modern ones: pennies, quarters, half dollars, silver coins, foreign and world coins, error coins and mint marks.
