■What is Formula E?
-------------------------------
Formula E is the world’s premier electric vehicle (EV) racing series, governed by the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile). Since its inception in 2014, all cars have competed using electric power.
Although it is sometimes called the “F1 of electric racing,” its most distinctive feature is that “major cities around the world” serve as its circuits. Because the cars produce no exhaust emissions and generate little noise, the series is able to hold races in city centers where such events would normally not be permitted.
The season kicks off around December each year and continues with races around the world until around August of the following year. In Japan, following Season 10 (March 2024) and Season 11 (May 2025), Season 12 (July 2026) is also scheduled to feature thrilling races in Tokyo.
Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. competes as a works team representing Japan. Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. has also teamed up with Lola to develop and supply the powertrain—the “heart” of the car—as it takes on the world.
