About this app

A study app for Japan's Class 1 Radiation Protection Supervisor exam (第1種放射線取扱主任者試験). This national qualification is based on the Act on the Regulation of Radioisotopes; a Class 1 supervisor can be appointed at any facility handling sealed and unsealed radioisotopes as well as radiation generating equipment. All 808 practice questions come with a clear explanation.

■ Subjects Covered (808 questions across 5 subjects, 17 areas)

【Law - Regulations on the prevention of radiation hazards】
• Purpose, definitions, licensing and notification (45)
• Facility standards, use, storage, transport and disposal (46)
• Measurement, dose limits, controlled areas, training, health checks (45)
• Supervisors, safety regulations, records, security, penalties (35)

【Practice - Technical standards for handling radioisotopes and generators】
• Facility safety management, shielding and dose assessment (57)
• Unsealed sources, contamination control, ventilation, waste (55)
• Radiation measurement - detectors, spectrometry, counting statistics (63)
• Accident response and emergency measures (40)

【Physics - Radiation physics】
• Atoms, nuclei and radioactive decay (51)
• Interaction of radiation with matter (55)
• Radiation production, accelerators and shielding calculations (45)

【Chemistry - Radiochemistry】
• Nuclear reactions, equilibrium and radionuclide production (46)
• Radiochemical separation and radioanalysis (50)
• Radiation chemistry, labelled compounds and tracer applications (45)

【Biology - Radiation biology】
• Early processes, DNA damage and cellular effects (45)
• Effects on the individual, acute and late effects (45)
• Radiation protection, dose assessment and medical use (40)

The Class 1 exam is held once a year over two days in late August. Each of the five subjects has 30 multiple-choice questions, and physics, chemistry and biology also include written-answer questions. To pass you need at least 50% in every subject and at least 60% across all five. A single subject below the halfway mark fails the whole exam, so the fastest route is to leave no weak subject behind. This app records your accuracy per area automatically, so you can see exactly which areas are still under the line.

Law and Practice reward accurate recall of provisions and figures, and they are the most reliable places to score. This app splits each of them into four areas, so you can drill the easily confused figures and procedures - facility standards, dose limits, record-keeping and reporting deadlines - area by area. After passing the exam, the licence is issued once you complete a training course at an institution registered with the Nuclear Regulation Authority. There are no eligibility requirements: anyone can sit the exam regardless of education or work experience.

■ Study Modes
• Random practice (10 / 25 / 50 / 100 questions)
• Study by subject
• All questions in order (resume supported)
• Review incorrect answers
• Bookmarks and unanswered questions

■ Progress Tracking
• Automatic tracking of correct answer rate
• Area-by-area performance overview - essential when each subject has its own minimum score

Works completely offline - study anytime, anywhere.
