Phoremin turns your phone into a theremin — the classic instrument famously played without ever touching it, controlled instead by motion in the air.

Touch the screen to sound a note, then move your phone to shape it in real time:

- Tilt left and right to sweep the filter cutoff
- Tilt forward and back to bend the pitch
- Add a second finger for a major chord, a third to turn it minor
- Lift your finger to release the note

Where you touch doesn't matter — only how many fingers, and how you hold the phone. Notes glide instead of restarting, so a chord grows out of the note you are already playing rather than interrupting it.

Under the hood, Phoremin runs the same native, low-latency synthesis engine as Q Pad, our touch-controlled synth pad — a polyphonic subtractive synth with oscillators, FM, amp and filter envelopes, distortion, delay, a formant filter, and reverb. Switch between 38 built-in presets, grouped by category, from warm analog basses and FM electric pianos to tubular bells and eerie sci-fi leads.

No microphone, camera, or network access is used. Everything happens locally, in real time, on your device.

What’s new

New: FM synthesis, with 19 new sounds — 38 in all, including FM pianos, tubular bells and FM brass. Presets are now grouped by category.

Wider range: pitch reaches about an octave further each way, and the filter opens higher, so bright attacks are no longer muffled.

Removed: shake-to-vibrato. It overwrote each preset's own modulation, so patches like Filter Wah and PWM Strings lost their character. They now sound as intended.

Fixed: a click when tapping a second finger on a held note.
