GuideLens is an early preview of a voice-controlled surroundings assistance app. Use the phone camera to receive spoken alerts about detected objects and their position in the image.
Voice commands control camera start and stop, repeat, help, settings, camera source, language and privacy information. The interface and spoken messages support English, Korean, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese and French. Speech recognition and speech voices depend on the services and language packs installed on the device. Initial Android permissions may require assistance.
This preview does not provide safe-route guidance, distance measurement, traffic-crossing permission or verified detection of holes and drop-offs. Objects may be missed or misclassified. Test while stationary with a sighted assistant. Continue using a cane, guide dog and your usual mobility support.
Google and Meta smart-glasses integrations are experimental. A compatible device, manufacturer setup and further validation are required; this preview has not been verified on real glasses.
Camera images are processed on the device. Android speech services may process voice input remotely depending on the device and provider. SDK diagnostic collection is explained in the privacy policy. No advertising is included.
