Combined with an active BMW ConnectedDrive subscription or the Mini Connected option, this project adds most of the features of Android Auto to your car as unofficial BMW/Mini Connected Apps:
🎵 See music apps on your phone as media sources in IDrive
🎙️ Interact with voice assistants installed on your phone
🔔 Read, listen and interact with notifications through the car's controls
📅 View your calendar in the car and start navigating to appointments
🗺️ Trigger car navigation from phone apps
👀 Read various diagnostic info and statistics from your car
🧩 Extend capabilities through optional add-ons (such as screen mirroring)
🚧 Custom map and navigation based on Mapbox

✨ By using the native BMW Apps protocol, exactly like the old Spotify app, this app does not modify your car in any way, and all of the extended capabilities are only provided while your phone is connected.

⚠️ BMW/Mini Connected Apps requires that the MyBMW or MINI app for your car is installed and that it can successfully enable your IDrive5+ car's Apps checkbox, or that your IDrive4 car has the ConnectedDrive Connection Assistant option. This usually requires having an active BMW ConnectedDrive subscription, which is typically included for a few years after you bought your new car.

This finally fixes BMW's inability to update their iDrive in older models. THIS IS THE FIX. I have been using this as a beta user for over a year and it meets all my needs to integrate my audio players on my phone with my BMW. It works seamlessly. Album art is there for the music apps, I can listen to books with cover art (I use Smart Audiobook Player and it has the ability to load the cover art within its app), even Google's Play Book read aloud works. This really should be part of the stock My BMW app, but since it is not, is is a must install for all BMW owners.

this app worked for a long time with my ID6, but no longer connecting and showing on ID6. have tried beta version and deleted cache etc and uninstalled. but the connection just shows greyed out on the top of the app with the phone icon and car. running one UI 7, s22+ thanks

I have been using it for over 2 years now or so and I'm absolutely loving it. Spotify integration is done relatively well, although small improvement would be welcome (if API allows) like browsing albums of each artist etc. Also considering switching over to YT Music, but the only way that holds me back is the lack of full integration (browse, like etc.) as it is for Spotify. I wonder if that could be implemented in the future as well.
