About this app

MentalAId is practice software for psychosocial therapists. It brings referrals, client records and session reporting together in one place, so you spend less time on administration.

RECORDING THAT KEEPS RUNNING
Record a session and keep using your device meanwhile. The recording continues while you check your calendar, look something up, or lock the screen. A notification in your status bar shows at all times that recording is in progress.

FROM CONVERSATION TO DRAFT REPORT
After the session you get a written transcript and a draft for your progress note. You review, correct and commit it — the final word stays yours.

REFERRALS IN ONE PLACE
Referrers submit clients in a structured way. You see straight away who is waiting, and accept or pass on.

CAREFUL WITH DATA
• Recording happens only with the consent of every participant, recorded in the client file
• Audio stays encrypted on your device until the upload is confirmed
• Audio is erased automatically after thirty days
• You can delete a recording together with its transcript; the activity log keeps the fact that it happened
• All data is held within the European Union, in Ireland

WHY THE APP RECORDS IN THE BACKGROUND
A session lasts up to an hour. The therapist needs to consult a calendar or let the screen lock during that time, and the recording has to continue — an interrupted recording means a lost session report. The recording therefore runs as a foreground service with a visible notification, and only after the therapist presses record.
