Ratings and reviews

I'm using this app to challenge my brain and slow down the progression of Alzheimer's Disease. There's a lot to like about it: the UI is better than most; the range of difficulty of the puzzles is good (and the ratings are pretty accurate). The puzzles are of good quality with a few exceptions: for some puzzles, the clues aren't quite accurate for the puzzle word. The one big drawback is the advertisements, but there are apps to address that Very Particular Need.

This is a good crossword puzzle game; it has different difficulty levels and a very large catalog of puzzles, with more added regularly. I enjoy this much more than any other crossword app I've tried. That being said, the current price of $28.99 for the ad-free version is nigh-on ludicrous. I might spend up to $10 for that, but there is absolutely no way I'd pay almost $30 for ANY app, let alone a crossword app. This is the sole reason for my lower rating.

The app itself is excellent, and the ads are very minimal. Lots of puzzles and difficulties to choose from, from many different puzzle designers. Some of the designers are less than great, but there is a feature to provide feedback to correct inaccurate clues or entry spelling errors. The one criticism I have is that the very hard puzzles substitute terrible clues for actual difficulty and obscure answers. 95% of my mobile game reviews are below 3 stars, but this game is a solid A-, IMO.
