My experience is pretty much as everybody else's. When it worked for first couple of weeks was almost good. Then started to stop for a day now stopped completely. When it worked it didn't offer great deal of stats (only 6 apps time recorded for) nor customisation. Not sure how software works with AODs, music streaming/listentin6 with screen off etc. Good potential but sadly not utilised.
I've been enjoying the app quite a bit because it has helped show me just how much I am on my phone. However, I wish that the achievements were more descriptive as to what you need to do to achieve them. Also, can anyone tell me where to change the permissions for Space? I no longer want to give it access to my notifications b/c it did not store them and simply knowing how many from each app was not useful to me after a focus session. I want to turn the permission off completely.
I started using this a few weeks ago and I enjoy this app a lot. It has helped me become more aware of how much im on my phone, however for the past few days its stopped working and i dont get the time limit notifications i usually do. The test at the beginning doesnt do much but i like how i can change the time & unlock limits. Overall its a helpful app with a lovely design and if you could just fix how it stopped after a few weeks of use that would be great
I really like the idea and I still use this app because it's pretty much the only decent app of this kind for Android, but that's not saying much. There are a lot of things about this app that I don't like. Overall, I would just like this app to be more customizable. For example, the session interrupt is not strong enough for me. I wish I could set the pop up to last longer (maybe twenty seconds or so?) because otherwise I just dismiss it without thinking. Secondly, I wish I had the ability to exclude more than five apps. I think it's really stupid that I can't. Since I am a student, many apps I have are school related. Thirdly, it's annoying when the session interrupt pops up when I am on an excluded app.
I liked the prior Breaking Free app much better. The personalized questionnaire taking me through the goal setting aspect in Space didn't get me to the end goal or result that I was looking for. (I was looking for ways to curb my non-business related use.) This newer version doesn't let you exclude certain apps as did Breaking Free. The color scheme of Space absolutely does not work for me and is not motivating. I much prefer the blues and greens of the prior app. I much prefer the little Buddha cartoon awards/notification than what Space offers. I liked the graphic that resembles a speedometer. I like that Breaking Free measured your use, which helped me understand what my baseline of usage was. From there, I was able to set usage goals. In Space, you are asked to set your goals at the onset. How can you do this if you don't know your usage? The goal became nebulous. For both apps, I think they were both counting unlocks when I didn't unlock the phone. I would recommend distinguishing checking notifications vs. actual unlocking. Four of my family members used the Breaking Free app (two adults, two teens) and we have all ceased using Space. Breaking Free was a great accountability tool that we used as a family. We liked to check our usage against each other. Since the change, we no longer do this. Overall, this is a case of fixing something that wasn't broken. Space tells me I have used it for 118 days. I used Breaking Free for about 2 months until the switch.
I like that it tells me to get off of my phone and how long I've been on it. It also has app breakdown to tell you which apps get most use but when it gives you awards it just says "you've earned this" and not why, you can look up why in another panel but that just isn't intuitive.
