About this app

On a liveaboard, you are usually paired with whoever else is on the boat. Dive Buddy, from DiveScanner, helps you choose instead. Find a real, verified diver to share your liveaboard trip with. Someone to plan dives with, split a cabin with, or just have company on the boat.

Build your diver profile
Add your certification level, dive experience, languages, interests, and a photo. Everything beyond your certification is optional, so your profile is as detailed or as simple as you want it.

Plan your trip
Pick a destination and the month you're travelling. Dive Buddy shows you other divers who've planned a trip to the same place at the same time, so you can find someone already on your route.

Match and chat
When you and another diver are both interested, you match and can message each other directly in the app to compare dates, talk through the trip, and decide if you're a good fit to dive together.

Verified divers only
Matching and chatting are limited to divers who have submitted their certification agency, number, and level for review. This is not an anonymous swipe app. It is built for real divers planning real trips, and every profile that can match or message has been through this check.

You're always in control
You choose what appears on your profile, who can message you, and you can block or report another diver at any time. Every report is reviewed by a person.

Dive safe
Dive Buddy helps you find and message another diver. What you do next is your own decision. Meet in a public place before travelling together, tell someone your plans, confirm the other diver's certification directly, and always do a buddy check before diving.

One DiveScanner account
Dive Buddy runs on your existing DiveScanner account, so there's nothing new to set up if you already use DiveScanner to compare liveaboard trips. No ads, no in-app purchases, free to use.
