Under Trees is a simple, private diary that lives on your device. Write about your day, capture your mood, add photos or a quick sketch, and keep it all behind a passcode — no account, no sign-up, just your journal on your device.

Most journaling apps ask you to trust the cloud. Under Trees starts somewhere else: your journal content is kept in the app's private storage, protected by your phone. Nothing leaves your device unless you choose to back it up yourself.

Ratings and reviews

Pros: Record Audio, Add Images, Free Fonts (good ones), customize color pallets for the App, #s, backup your entries, Lock/Pass code, & designed more for adults -> Most journaling apps on here are either targeted towards tweens or extremely basic. This is neither. I like it. Cons: Can't format the text (B, U, I, centering, Etc..), no background images (you just choose a color), no emojis.

Ads are extremely frustrating because they are full screen ads that pop up after adding a title or typing a note. There is a warning about them, but it makes it difficult to really try the app to see if I want to purchase it and continue using it. It makes it hard to want to stick around, because it is immediately frustrating to use. Customization options are beautiful, but I will be uninstalling due to the ads. I'm fine with ads and paying, but I can hardly use the app and I won't pay to try it

I've tried almost every journal/diary app in the store and this is one of my favorites. I'd rate it 5 stars if it wasn't for the fact that every time you change your header image you have to customize your theme all over, that's REALLY annoying. I hope the devs fix that. Other than that, the app is really good and it's worth paying for the premium... Although the free version is awesome too.
