About this app

Download this free official New Zealand government app and use it to request your NZeTA and pay the IVL. Using the app is the fastest way to request an NZeTA and should take you less than 5 minutes.

You can use the app to scan your passport to upload your details and scan your credit or debit card for ease of payment.

You can request and pay for up to 10 NZeTAs in one transaction for your family or group.


What are the NZeTA & IVL?

The NZeTA is a border security measure introduced by the New Zealand Government on 1 October 2019.

Most visitors coming to New Zealand must pay an International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy (IVL) of NZD $35. The IVL is a way for you to contribute directly to the tourism infrastructure you use and help protect the natural environment you enjoy during your stay in New Zealand. Ratings and reviews

This is the single worst written app I've ever used. As an Android developer, I've worked with thousands of apps. Most requests fail in the app so you have to retry them. But retries also fail so you have to reopen from the launcher. Also, no data gets saved between attempts. So you have to start over from scratch only to fail to finish the process ever. NZeTA should find a different company to work on it.

I have been trying to use this app for weeks for an upcoming trip to NZ. I keep getting an "unknown error" message. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app but get the same message. A few times I was able to get through to the passport scan, picture, and questions before another server or unknown error.

This app is very easy to use, and costs far less than "service" does out there that charge a big fee. The most difficult part was taking the passport photo, it took me several tries. Make sure there is no glare, I used a dark plain background, and line the bar up over the name and numbers at the bottom of the page. Don't worry about where your passport photo is, it doesn't matter. Nice app, easy to use, I'll enjoy New Zealand, thanks!

What's new

Over 400,000 travellers have now used this official New Zealand government app to successfully request their NZeTA.
The new version (1.2.1) allows you to check your NZeTA status even if you requested your NZeTA on a different device or via a different channel. You can now make multiple NZeTA requests from the same device without deleting previous requests and payment by American Express has been enabled.
