About this app

The Curious Learning Coach app helps community literacy coaches support the children in their cohort who are learning to read with the Curious Reader app. Designed for coaches working in low-bandwidth environments across sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia, it turns reading progress data into a clear, action-oriented dashboard — so coaches can spend their limited time on the children who need them most.

KEEP EVERY LEARNER ON TRACK

The app color-codes each learner's activity at a glance:

🔴 Needs Attention — hasn't played in more than 5 days
🟡 Encourage to Play — inactive for 3–5 days
🟢 Active — played within the last 2 days

No spreadsheets. No digging through data. Just open the app and know exactly who needs a nudge today.

ADD LEARNERS IN SECONDS

Learners are identified by their anonymous Curious Reader User ID. Capturing it is fast and requires no typing:

• Scan the QR code directly from the child's Curious Reader screen with the in-app camera
• Or photograph the screen and let the app decode the QR from the image
• Manual entry is also supported as a fallback

You can optionally add a learner's name, a parent's phone number, and a photo to help you remember who's who. This personal information is stored only on your device and never leaves it.

Send a personalized WhatsApp message to a lapsed learner with a single tap. Pre-loaded, tier-specific message templates are included for each activity level, and you can customize every template to match your coaching style.

WORKS OFFLINE

Your learner roster lives on your device. The app works fully offline — you can review your cohort, check reading levels, and draft messages without an internet connection. Progress data is fetched when you go online.

COHORT DASHBOARD

The Dashboard tab shows a summary of your entire cohort — reader-level distribution (Beginning / Emergent / Early Reader) visualized as a pie chart — so you can see your group's progress over time at a glance.

Each learner card displays their current reading level based on their Curious Reader progress data:
