The new version no longer allows me to type non-suggested english word (eg. a word not in word hint) and then choosing it without breaking it with space. Previously the first prompted word was always exactly what I typed and I could select it, now I can't select it anymore without pressing space.

Fcitx5 for Android still works in 2024 the only real problem is some of the emojis still don't appear right in some Android devices. It has all of the features and settings that you want in a keyboard app if you could just fix the app emojis to work and appear right in older and newer Android devices Instead of half working I will give this app a five star review. It hasn't been updated since August 23, 2023.

Fcitx5 for Android is a great keyboard app it has all the features and functionality of Gboard and most popular Android keyboard apps. The only thing is missing is improved emoj support and improved autocorrect. Sometimes the emojis don't appear in some Android devices properly.

What’s new

The input method will show a floating candidates window and hide virtual keyboard when you start typing with a physical keyboard
Adopt fcitx5 "candidate action" API, to pin candidates in Pinyin/Shuangpin and forget words in RIME
The application now targets Android API 35, and handles navigation bar or system gesture insets more reliably
The application has been renamed to "小企鹅输入法" in Chinese, and "Fcitx5" for non-Chinese languages
