"The Butler Did It" is a 300,000 word interactive novel by Daniel Elliot, and a finalist in the Choice of Games writing contest, where your choices control the story. It's entirely text-based—without graphics or sound effects—and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination.

It doesn’t take long to realize that things are a little bit off though, to say the least. At Coburg Manor, you’ll make friends, battle enemies, and uncover a mystery far deeper and stranger than you ever imagined.

Ratings and reviews

Started interesting then turned into lost of interest. It's almost like in an effort to make something different and unpredictable, the author just came up with multiple ideas and mixed it up together. The problem lies in execution of the ideas. I dont think whatever the stories should be, it came out right. I love unpredictable stories. This one is just too forced to be different. In short I got tired by the jumble, I stopped caring completely and cant finish it. I gave it 3 stars for effort and I did enjoy the character relationship building part. Overall cant really recommend though.

First off, I wish I had much more room to write! All of the games I have played from Hosted games and Choice of games is flawless, especially this gem! I really loved the plot and setting! This game was just overall amazing in everyway! I do have one problem though, nothing major. I have only done one playthrough of this game so far and the ending I got was, in my opinion, the best! The problem is that it seemed too abrupt and I didn't feel like there was enough closure to certain things.

Good but needs bug fixes. When meeting the siege bot it assumed i had a sword when i did not. Also im not sure if theres a way to put sexuality that i missed or if its a bug with the game assuming im attracted to women. It also referred to me as a lad at some point. Couldnt finish the game because it gave me an error after the mines right before going to save the city. Still giving five stars because the game was long and enjoyable even with the bugs.
