About this game

Visit a myth-infested 1820s Ireland. One dark (if not particularly stormy) night, you find yourself face to face with a frightening visage—or lack thereof. Though shaped like a man, the creature you’ve encountered appears to have lost his head. Worse, he seems to think you might be the one to blame!

"The Harbinger's Head" is a fantastic 46,000 word interactive horror novel by Kim Berkley, where your choices control the story. It's entirely text-based—without graphics or sound effects—and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination.

It’s up to you to prove your innocence and discover the true thief of the harbinger's head before your own winds up on the chopping block!

• Play as male, female, or non-binary.
• Step into the shoes of an herbalist, schoolteacher, or lamplighter.
• Shape your personality and build your skills through the choices you make, or trust your luck at your own peril.
• Make friends—or enemies—of the various Fae creatures you’ll encounter along the way.
• Discover one of eight endings…or meet an untimely death.

I only wish it was longer! I wish I could've interacted more with the dullahan throughout my life (like good friends). But it was really well written and I especially love the dullahan's character. It was well portrayed. It was more linear and shorter than most cog games but def worth a read (the price is lower too). I JUST WISH IT WAS LONGER.

An Okay story. Not boring but nothing to get hyped about either, I was interested & Curious but not necessarily immersed. I like how you are able to replay the chapter if you die instead of having to replay the whole story, though if you'd have to it's not that long. I replayed the 2nd to last chapter a few times, Dying by the Witch after she kills the Headless & her Sister dies, Killing the Witch after she kills the harbinger & Killing the Witch whilst retrieving the headless's head.

Short but sweet, really the only complaint I can give is that it's too short, yet at the same time it's shortness gives it an unique charm within the CoG library. The writing itself is fantastic and balances out the story perfectly. If you want a charming little experience to waste away an afternoon on, I'd recommend giving this a spin.
