About this app

Litterati is an app that is empowering individuals to make a significant, measurable impact on the environment.

Far more than just picking up litter, the worldwide community of Litterati users are building the most powerful crowd-sourced set of data on litter ever assembled.

This data is being used to:

* Help cities better utilize their waste management services
* Convince companies to change their operations to be more sustainable
* Arm individuals and organizations with proof to create government policy changes

Litterati also shows you the map of your personal positive impact on the environment

You can join global cleanup challenges as well as create challenges in your community where your friends, family, neighbors, school system, or co-workers can join together to make your area healthy, clean, & beautiful.

This planet that we call home is a big place to keep clean. We all need to play our part.

Here is how the Litterati app works:

* Take a photo of each piece of litter that you collect and dispose of
* Litterati will automatically geo-tag the photo for you
* Our LitterAI tool will add tags to each litter photo for you to confirm or change
* Upload the photos to the Litterati database
* Track your personal impact as well as the total impact of the Litterati community

Join the global Litterati community today to be a part of over 150,000 people in over 116 countries around the world in the combined effort to clean up our planet!

Overall enjoy the app concept, but on my Android it's very lagged, and makes my camera constantly click as if it's taking pics while the app is open even when not using the camera feature. It's very distracting and makes a little hesitant to use the app. The camera feature in the app itself is also difficult to use because of the lag, so I have to upload pics instead. Will continue to use, but I'm impatient and likely will forgot to upload pics if the app is being too slow.

Hi Kitty - if it's been awhile since you last gave Litterati a try, we'd love for you to check it out. Aesthetically it largely looks the same but we've made a lot of performance + stability improvements, we've fixed many bugs, and made significant speed improvements Hope to see you on the Leaderboard of worldwide litter pickers sometime soon : )

Kind of a cool concept, but just not practical for me. My typical litter walk is about hour long and I pick up between 200 & 400 pieces of litter in that time (sometimes more). The thought of photographing and tagging each one of those pieces is simply not going to happen especially when I make 3 to 5 litter walks per week. Instead of taking photos of litter,it would be better to create a collaborative app that allows citizens in an area to sign up for routes that they would responsible for.

Hi Bruce, Thank you for your review and feedback. We are testing out the possibility to capture multiple pieces of litter in one photograph, if that is something that could work for you, please reach out to so we can help you navigate through that.

This app makes me want to add my entire phone to the trash bag I am filling. It is not intuitive. I took a photo on my camera app outside of litterati and tried to upload it later but could not figure out how. It was 25 degrees while I was plogging so there was no chance I was going to stop to take off my glove and photograph every dumb soda can. I tried to add details later from my home and couldn't change the location to where I was plogging. Spend more time picking up, less time on a dumb app

What's new

Starting today, we will be rolling out some simplifications and performance improvements within the application over the next few months.
We are so thankful for our active community and tireless work by so many to help document litter around the globe. We've added a new section on the main Impact tab where we will help users visualize their activity during the last week along with giving new users a goal to shoot for to get started with documenting litter.
