I'm really disappointed with Locals. The feature that allows event covers to include sound is absolutely terrible. It’s annoying, intrusive, and completely ruins the user experience. I open the app to check events, not to be blasted with random noises or music. Who thought this was a good idea? There should at least be an option to turn it off, but there isn’t. The app is cheap and unprofessional. I used to enjoy using Locals, but now it’s just frustrating.

Useless if you organize non-commercial events. When the community of your event/club grows a bit bigger (100+ people), the application starts to extort a paid subscription from you. You can not create new events (even if they are completely free to participate). So sooner or later, the organizer has to switch back to a Telegram or WhatsApp group. That already happened to me, and to friends who organize other events in a same city

Locals is reasonably good for finding small activities in select geographic areas - for example London, which is where I live. It's still very much a developing concept, not least because it's only available as an app with no online (desktop) service. This means that it's challenging to use as an event organiser. For now, Eventbrite is the 800lb gorilla in creating and managing local events, and considerably easier to use (and more powerful) than Locals.
