About this app

Hassle-free typing of Unicode characters without switching apps and tedious copy-pasting: Just type them directly from your keyboard!

Unicode Keyboard supports two modes of input: You can either specify the hexadecimal code point of the character you want to type or you can simply browse through the catalog and select them there. Both modes are available directly on the keyboard and can be used in virtually any app.

Unicode Keyboard is free, comes without ads and does not require unnecessary permissions.

Important, especially for users from Myanmar: This app does not come with any fonts. In order to display certain characters, the underlying app you’re typing in needs to support displaying these characters. You still can access e.g. Myanmar letters, but this app cannot control how the letters will appear on screen.

This unicode keyboard is half the solution. It is excellent because it allows an easy way to input unicode codes, and even displays the character you encoded (if you have a comprehensive font installed). It fails because it gives you no way to browse the unicode characters when you cannot remember the exact code (sort of how you would put in emoji). It would be perfect if it could do both, but that's outside it's stated scope.

This app is great for inputting Unicode symbols, but if you don't know the code, you have to search for a while. I think the developer should add a "list" button, showing each block in its full, as well as the names if tapped on. I'd imagine this mode would take up double the space.

Thank you very much for your feedback! New features that would simplify the selection of the symbols are in development, but especially the aspect of how much space they should occupy requires more refinement and testing. I'm looking forward to your feedback as soon as these features will be released!

In its current state, the keyboard only makes sense to use if you know the codepoints ahead of time or use another resource/app to research them, as there is no quick way to select character types/categories; you have to manually flick between categories with the arrows, which is way too time-consuming. There should be some type of drop-down list to select the character types.

Thank you for your detailed feedback! You're right that browsing the characters and categories could be improved. Enhancements are in development, but they require careful refinement so they don't interfere with existing workflows or make the app feel overcomplicated. If you'd like to help shape these features, feel free to send me an email.
