Orbot is a free proxy app that empowers other apps to use the internet more securely. Orbot uses Tor to encrypt your Internet traffic and then hides it by bouncing through a series of computers around the world. Tor is free software and an open network that helps you defend against a form of network surveillance that threatens personal freedom and privacy, confidential business activities and relationships, and state security known as traffic analysis.
Orbot is the only app that creates a truly private internet connection. As the New York Times writes, “when a communication arrives from Tor, you can never know where or whom it’s from.”
Tor won the 2012 Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) Pioneer Award.
★ ACCEPT NO SUBSTITUTES: Orbot is the safest way to use the Internet on Android. Period. Orbot bounces your encrypted traffic several times through computers around the world, instead of connecting you directly like VPNs and proxies. This process takes a little longer, but the strongest privacy and identity protection available is worth the wait. ★ PRIVACY FOR APPS: Any installed app can use Tor via the Orbot VPN feature, or if it has a proxy feature, using the settings found here: https://goo.gl/2OA1y Use Orbot with Twitter, or try private web searching with DuckDuckGo: https://goo.gl/lgh1p ★ PRIVACY FOR EVERYONE: Orbot prevents someone watching your connection from knowing what apps you are using or websites you visit. All anyone monitoring your network traffic can see is that you're using Tor.

Safety starts with understanding how developers collect and share your data. Data privacy and security practices may vary based on your use, region, and age. The developer provided this information and may update it over time.
Works as a effective option for securing your connection while on wifi. I couldn't stand the idea of someone plundering through to keep tabs on my browser history. Allow bridging (for when necessary) and it performs flawlessly. It does seem to hinder the connection speed/data flow, meaning it slows it somewhat but has never failed to load the page. Settings/control options are very basic so I would recommend to entry level tech. Otherwise performs as it should.

To be honest its all on the processing speed of the user's phone and internet connection. The moment I purchased a good phone with reliable service I've never had an issue. You should always delete it when your done, including anything you downloaded while using it. It's a great experience if you know what your doing. Most people dont even use all the setting properly. I love this and love how it doesn't even have to be a third party app. Gooood orbot!!!!

Still has issues. Fails to start sometimes and gets stuck. Normally requires a force stotlp, or a restart of the device to work right. Same goes for shutting it down. Fails to stop properly, and when it does, it crashes. It sometimes requires a force stop while running to get it to stop running in VPN mode when it's not on, which has always been an issue, but was escalated with the last update in September.
