About this app

Tired of being tracked online? We can help.

DuckDuckGo is the all-in-one privacy app that helps protect your online activities. With one download you get a new everyday browser that offers seamless protections from third-party trackers while you search and browse, and even access to tracking protections when receiving email and using other apps on your device. With DuckDuckGo, privacy can be your default.

Search Privately — DuckDuckGo Private Search comes built-in so you can search the web without being tracked.

Block Tracking Cookies — prevent cross-site (aka 3rd party) cookies from tracking you as you browse from site to site. We also help prevent websites from tracking you with their own cookies by automatically expiring those first-party cookies after 7 days.

Escape Website Tracking — Tracker Radar automatically blocks most hidden third-party tracking scripts lurking on websites you visit in DuckDuckGo, which stops the companies behind those trackers from collecting and selling your data. See notes and links below for more information.

Enforce Encryption — Smarter Encryption forces sites you visit in DuckDuckGo to use an encrypted (HTTPS) connection where available, protecting your data from prying eyes.

Block Email Trackers (Beta) — 70% of emails track you as soon as you open them. Enabling Email Protection is the easy way to block email trackers and hide your address without switching services. Join the private waitlist for the free beta version through the app settings menu.

Protect Your Privacy in Other Apps (Beta) — Block most hidden app tracking scripts in other apps day or night and prevent third-party companies from invading your privacy with App Tracking Protection. See notes and links below for more information. Join the private waitlist for the free beta version through the app settings menu.

The DuckDuckGo app has the browsing features you expect, like tabs and bookmarks, plus privacy controls you’ll love. Taking control of your privacy doesn't have to mean making tradeoffs.

Tap Fire Button, Burn Data — Clear your tabs and browsing data with one tap of the Fire Button.

Signal Your Privacy Preference with GPC — Built into the app, Global Privacy Control (GPC) intends to help you express your legal opt-out rights automatically. This will tell websites not to sell or share your personal information under future legal frameworks (e.g., CCPA, GDPR) in various states or countries.

You don't need to wait to take back your privacy. Join the millions of people using DuckDuckGo and protect many of your everyday online activities with one app. It's privacy, simplified.

Note About our Tracker Blocking: While we block all cross-site (3rd party) cookies on other sites you visit, we cannot block all hidden tracking scripts on non-DuckDuckGo sites for a variety of reasons including: new scripts pop up all the time making them difficult to find, blocking some scripts creates breakage making parts or all of the page unusable, some we are prevented from blocking due to contractual restrictions with Microsoft.

Problem with this app and many others is, the data is used when you are not on Wifi! Unknown to me. It is automatically turned on till you realize it and are lucky enough to be able to find where, on each app, to turn it off! I don't have a data plan nor do I want one! Data has been running on many of my apps causing me to have a huge bill. SCAM of all times on apps!

I appreciate the privacy aspects. It lacks a few settings options that would make it better suit me. I dislike that I can't make the the toolbar always visible. And please let me turn off refreshing the page via scrolling, I absolutely despise this feature. Not having a history is odd, but not necessarily bad. Sometimes crashes for no reason, or won't load pages that work in other browsers, stating an error (invalid response).

I have been using the site for a short time; but I like it so far. I feel protected while online. Thank You for that. As of May 19, 2022, I'm still using the app and I like it. However, there are times when I search a website and try to go to other pages/sections on that site I get the error page that says "WEB PAGE UNAVAILABLE". Ex., I searched CHEBULA OIL; main/home page popped up fine. But when I clicked a specific topic on the menu the error page popped up "WEB PAGE UNAVAILABLE".
