About this app

Wine Scanner reads a wine label from one photo and gives you a 100-point quality estimate with a plain-language tier, the grape, the region, the vintage and the dishes that suit the bottle.

WHAT ONE PHOTO OF A WINE LABEL GIVES YOU
• A 100-point quality estimate with its tier, from Everyday to Outstanding
• The wine or cuvee name, and the producer, winery or house as printed
• Grape or blend, appellation or sub-region, and country of origin
• The vintage year, or NV for a non-vintage bottle
• Red, white, rose, sparkling or dessert, with body and sweetness
• The tasting profile to expect: fruit, oak, tannin, acidity and finish
• Three to five dishes that suit the bottle
• Serving temperature in Celsius, and whether and how long to decant
• A typical retail range for the bottle, as an estimate
• The cues read off the glass and the label, and what they point to
• A calibrated confidence score on every reading

THE RATING LEADS THE RESULT
You are in front of a shelf, or somebody has handed you a bottle, and the label names a producer you do not know from a region you cannot place. So the quality estimate sits at the top of the result, directly under the wine name, with the tasting profile and the pairings under it. The estimate comes from producer reputation, region, vintage and style against general references. Nobody opened the bottle. It is not a tasting and it is not a critic score.

WHAT THE LABEL WILL AND WILL NOT SAY
Glare, condensation or a tilted angle hides text, and the scanner says which parts of the label it read and which it inferred rather than inventing a producer. A vintage year it cannot read comes back as unknown, not as a guess. Own-brand and untraceable house blends are named as such and keep a modest estimate. Bottle shape and closure corroborate the reading and never override it: a high shoulder, a sloped shoulder, a tall flute or a wire-caged cork narrows the style, and the label wins.

WHAT TO SERVE IT WITH
Grilled ribeye, aged hard cheese, mushroom risotto, oysters. Every set of food pairings arrives with the serving temperature and a plain answer on whether to decant. They are the expectations for the style rather than a description of that one bottle.

ASK ABOUT THE BOTTLE YOU JUST SCANNED
Every scan opens a conversation scoped to wine. What an appellation term means, how producer reputation and vintage shape a rating estimate, why a wine is decanted, which glass suits it, what terroir and a varietal label tell you that a blend does not, and the retail range a bottle sits in.

YOUR CELLAR, KEPT ON YOUR DEVICE
Every scan is saved with its photograph in your cellar list and opens again at any time, with no account. The cellar records the wines you have scanned rather than managing stock: no counts and no drinking windows.

WHO IT IS FOR
• Anyone in a wine aisle facing a wall of unfamiliar names
• Hosts and cooks working out what to serve with dinner
• Hobbyists keeping a list of the bottles they have seen
• Travellers reading a wine label in a language they cannot read
• Learners working out what the terms on a label mean, from terroir to Grand Cru

HONEST ABOUT WHAT A PHOTO CAN DO
This app is an AI reading of the label in your photo. The rating, tasting notes and pairings are estimates from the label and general references, not a substitute for tasting the wine, and the same wine varies by vintage and by storage. Prices are market-dependent estimates, not a professional appraisal. A photo can raise doubt about a label but can never confirm that a bottle is genuine. For adults of legal drinking age.

Reading a wine label needs an internet connection. Scans you have already saved stay on your device and open again at any time.

The app interface and the results are available in 33 languages. Everything described above is included in this Android version.
