About this app

Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer among women (not including skin cancer) and is the second cause of cancer death in women. In Portugal, are detected each year about 6,000 new cases of breast cancer and 1,500 women die from this disease.

Breast cancer is one of the diseases with the greatest impact in our society, not only because it is very common and associated with an image of great gravity, but also because it strikes an organ full of symbolism, maternity and femininity.

The Portuguese League Against Cancer (LPCC), in partnership with the Association of Blind and Partially Sighted of Portugal (ACAPO) and the European Coalition Against Breast Cancer - Europa Donna, developed this application on Breast Cancer Prevention under the Education project for Health on Breast Cancer for Women Blind and Partially Sighted. This project received financial support from the EDP Foundation.

This application provides information about breast cancer in a simple and accessible, focusing on aspects concerning the epidemiology, prevention, treatment and support to women with breast cancer.

The free availability of information media in different formats, and produced in order to ensure accessibility to access information allows the LPCC to continue the pursuit of its mission with regard to Education for Health.

This tool was built taking into account accessibility criteria that allow this application to be used by the entire population.
