About this app

Mumla is a client for the voice chat system Mumble. Connect to one of the many public Mumble-servers run by the community, or host one yourself (see https://www.mumble.info for more info). Mumla is an updated and maintained version (a fork) of the app Plumble.

To give a little support towards the maintenance and development of Mumla, please find and purchase the donation version of Mumla.

Some of the features:

* Certificate generation, import and export
* Browse public servers
* Voice activated transmission (the default), or different Push-to-talk buttons
* Bluetooth headset support
* Self-registration on server
* Access tokens
* Opus, CELT, and Speex codec support
* Automatic reconnection
* Tor support through the Orbot app
* Text-to-speech for messages (turned on by default)
* Light and dark theme

Voice activated transmission currently works best when using a headset. The echo cancellation and noise reduction need better implementations. You may also try tweaking the Detection threshold in the settings.

Mumla is free and open source software. Find out more at: https://mumla-app.gitlab.io/

Battery drain? Yeah, because this is a near real-time effort of communication. The microphone, processor, and modem (big drain) have to always be ON to do what the software was designed to do, receive immediate messages, and transmit too! This was something I noticed with my iPad first, so if I could make a recommendation to those writing negative reviews... understand that energy isn't free. This is specialized software that needs to be ON and running to work, even in the background! Good luck

using the voice detection is horrible. all it does is feedback what came out of the speakers. no matter the detection threshold. do not see any echo cancellation settings.

I think it is well known in the community that at least the Mumla client works best when all participants use a headset (headphones with microphone). The lack of echo cancellation is also known. I believe issues have been filed in the project https://gitlab.com/quite/mumla . Thank you.

in the description it says Mumla is a free and open source software. But suddenly it has started asking for donation and support whenever it is launched. either state that it is no longer free and open source or stop asking for Donation and support everytime.

Mumla is indeed Free (Libre) and Open Source Software, F(L)OSS. The "Free" there does not mean gratis or free of cost, please read up. You may also build the source code yourself, or get a build of the non-nagging variant from an alternative app store beginning with F. The Google Play is really not the right place for a discussion of freedoms.

What’s new

A lot of work was done to update Mumla for Android 15 and 16 (API 35 & 36). As a consequence Android 5.0 (API 21) or later is now required. Theming was modernized to support system light/dark modes. The settings screen had to be adapted to newer APIs. Added in-app language preference.

The languages available in Mumla are those which have been translated to 40% or more.
