About this game
Shogi, also known as Japanese Chess, is one of the most popular mind games in Japan, along with chess and Go. The Japan Shogi Association (日本将棋連盟) is the official body that ranks professional players (棋士, kishi), organizes tournaments, and maintains the rules of the game. Becoming a professional shogi player requires going through a rigorous "deshi" (apprentice) system that lasts for years, starting from a young age.
