Snap. Scan. Know.
FreeSurf's Calorie Tracker is a free tool (as opposed to typical subscription based tools) which gives you instant calorie and macro-nutrient estimates just by taking a photo of your meal. No barcode scanning, no manual searching, no account required.
How it works:
1. Take a photo of your food (or pick one from your library)
2. Our self-hosted vision AI identifies each item
3. You get calories, protein, carbs, and fat for everything on the plate
4. Adjust anything — edit names, portions, units, and all macro values
5. Confirm and save
No photo? No problem. Type any food name like "burger and fries" and the AI estimates macros from text alone. Or manually enter foods with the quick-add form.
Features:
- Daily calorie progress ring with macro breakdown (protein, carbs, fat)
- 7-day bar chart to track your trends
- Swipe through dates or jump to any day with the date picker
- Set a personal daily calorie goal
- Edit, delete, or re-estimate individual food items
- Flexible units: cup, oz, g, tbsp, tsp, slice, piece, bowl, ml, lb, whole
- Dark theme by default
- Optional Supabase cloud sync across devices
Privacy-first:
- No account or sign-in required — all data stays on your phone
- Photos are sent to our self-hosted GPU for analysis and immediately deleted after processing
- Optional cloud sync uses row-level security — only you can access your data
Completely free. No subscriptions, no per-photo fees. Supported by minimal, non-intrusive ads. The entire stack is open source (GPL v3).
FreeSurf Calorie Tracker is part of the FreeSurf ecosystem — a suite of free, open-source tools for freelancers and small businesses. No middleman fees, no lock-in.
