It's "ok" as long as the screen is on. However once the phone goes to standby/sleep it becomes pretty useless, as the audio constantly gets interrupted and re-buffered. Despite WiFi being 'always on', and no power-saving active. BBC iPlayer Radio does not have this issue.

Rewriting this review since they came back to basics. They stopped oversimplifying and searching for similar stations has become much more accurate. It still has the problem of lumping all flavours of rock into a single genre, and the same can be said about electronic music.

Update: While the ease of use of the current design is still not as great as the original app, there have been enough improvements to make TuneIn my go-to radio app again. Nice. Original review (5/2014): The new design wrecks what was formerly a great app. The new intrusive permissions are for social functions we don't need or want. The design is horrible, clunky, and really hard to read, now. Battery use is up, and it's crashing more often. It's good the exit button is back, but that seems to be the only criticism they've heard, while it's not the magic bullet that solves all problems with this downgrade. How many bad reviews does it take to correct things back to the way it worked well for everybody?

Hi Paul, do you have power saving mode turned on? This causes the stream to buffer as soon as it gets backgrounded. Try turning that off, to see if that helps!

I've always used this app for about 3+years but since the update I can no longer get jacaranda fm I used to listen to all the time now it says not available on tunin radio even when I try to look for stations in South Africa I'm disappointed

It should partner with more channels. Some of the podcasts are a not available on this app. Many of the channels I once subscribed are now inactive. But yes, it's a very good app. I hope they improve a bit.

SHUTS OFF every couple of minutes since last update. Same issue as a few updates past--prob had besn solved but now is doing it again. Android device...was working great til last update--NOTHING changed but that. ALSO... audio will REPEAT itself! Its like deja vu... **THIS APP WHEN WORKING PROPERLY, Is THE BEST radio , podcast, etc app available. PLEASE FIX ASAP

I replaced my phone so I had to install TuneRadio again, with its updates. The previous version was superb and I had no issues. Now, after 30 minutes, it drops out and it's impossible to listen to any radio station for more than a few seconds! Please fix these bugs. I'll have to find an alternative radio apps or apps until the problems are fixed.

Aside from being (and having been for the last couple of years, ever since Favorites were first renamed into ill-conceived "Following") totally bloated and resource hungry, slowing down my devices to a crawl, tunein also forgets my login all the time. I have to manually re-login about every other time I start this app as my login data simply doesn't persist within the app. This is so annoying, and happens to me on multiple devices!

Last 2 updates RUINED this app ! My screen looks nothing like it use to look. Icons at top gone for starters. Can't check schedules anymore, etc... Contact with "Tunein" was useless. Their reply left much to be desired. I'm done with this app...

Up to now this app has had a fatal flaw: if your connection dropped or you stopped a stream, the player could only play it again from the very beginning. Ridiculous if you were 20 minutes in. As of today TuneIn returns you to where you were when the stream stopped. (Of course they don't mention this in the update notes. But it's pretty clear for a while that the support staff there have no idea how this app works.)

Only downloaded this for a specific radio station. Funny thing, their avatar does not follow the actual show (we have a couple of hours time difference between us). I still have to figure this out, but the app works perfectly. &:c)

I use this primarily for listening to podcasts. The service is inconsistent (podcasts and audiobooks aren't always available) and the interface doesn't offer all podcasts in the series, which makes this app a waste of money. Save your $70 and use Pocketbook Cast, which is free and a better product.

Cannot play any stations after the latest update. It says I am not connected to the internet (which I obviously am). How can it say I am not connected when it can and does still display ads? And no, it is not my connection as all other apps that need an internet connection work perfectly fine.

Signed up for the trial and it renewed a day before I thought it would. That's ok, nothing tune in did wrong in that regard. Contacted them to reverse the charge and absolutely no response in the last 30 hours. Called American Express and now I have to go through the hassle of disputing. Good product, horrible customer service. Be careful

I like the newer fwd/back buttons, but I feel like it's autoplaying more often now when I open the app, even tho I have that setting disabled. Also I so badly wish I could specify a station with the alarm, rather than it being whatever station I most recently listened to!! But obvs still love this app :) EDIT: Thanks for the reply! But, in the help doc you referenced, step 1 is to go to the media (ie station) you want to listen to -- I don't see any info about how to change the station for the alarm in those instructions, or in the TuneIn app GUI.

After the last update every time I want to listen to my favourite station it's doing the same thing, I press play it loads for a few seconds and then it takes me to the previous screen showing the play icon again and again and again. Very frustrating

I love listening to TuneIn, when on the bus and when relaxing, cooking etc..and the programmes keeps me in stitches. But not I'm not so sure anymore. Since the last update. I can no longer tell what shows I'm listening to. It just shows the bbc4extra logo...😠😠😠
