About this app

one sec forces you to take a deep breath whenever you open distracting apps.

It’s as simple as effective: You will reduce your social media usage just by becoming aware of it. one sec is the focus app that tackles the problem of unconscious social media use at its root. It is designed to change your habits on a long-term basis.

one sec works so great because it is fully automated – and forces you to reflect on your actions – while they happen.

With one sec, you‘ll notice both a short-term and long-term effect on your social media usage:

1. Unconscious phone habits are prevented right away (“Why did I even want to open that app?”) and
2. Long-term habits change because these apps appear less appealing to your brain (their “dopamine on demand” effect fades away).

one sec is also available for your desktop web browser: https://tutorials.one-sec.app/browser-extension-installation

We have made one sec free to use with one app!

was great a few months ago, not worth it now. It just did the intervention on me when I was actively reading an article. Also I can't choose how long to be on an app anymore like I could a few months ago. They stuck, bottom of the barrel, basic features behind a paywall which sucks. My doc and therapist thought it was super neat and asked me what it was and then started recommending it to their clients. Now we are on the hunt for a new one instead and they have stopped recommending it.

It recently pops up sometimes when an ad is using Facebook's ad server, which means I have to go through the whole process to get past a five second ad on a game. Otherwise, I like having the reminder to not doomscroll on the main three apps I get stuck on; I pay for premium because I figure the time it saves me is worth the couple dollars a month.

really great core functionality with a couple of areas I'd love to see developed further 🙏 1) would be nice to have a schedule tool; it's great for some apps to have the intervention enabled all the time, but some I just want enabled during the work week, or even more specifically, working hours. 2) it would be helpful to be able to group/categorize applications manually so you could turn interventions on/off for an entire group at a time. overall, finding it helpful.
