Find new dates or new friends with Bumble

Whether you’re looking to date outside of your circle, make friends in a new city, or even build business connections on the go, Bumble helps you branch out and expand your social hive. Join the app to connect with like-minded people near you.

Reveal the real you

When you join Bumble, provide your name, age, hometown, and current location to get started. You’ll also have the option to set your habits around exercise, smoking, and drinking. Next, choose preset phrases to describe your current situation, like “New in town,” “Career-focused,” and “Roommate life.” Then, select some of your main interests, from board games and backpacking to Bollywood and brunch.
Now that you’ve summarized yourself in words, pick six of your favorite photos to show yourself in action. You can import pics from your camera roll, social media, or snap a selfie on the spot. Grab attention and showcase your personality by writing a punchy profile intro and responding to open-ended prompts like, how a former teacher would describe you or your go-to song. Once that’s complete, you can link your Instagram and Spotify accounts to show off your aesthetic and tastes.
Tip
Bumble is location-based, so you’ll see people near you. Only want to view profiles of people within a certain distance? Set a preference for distance under the Filter icon on the Discovery page. You can also choose to see people a little further away if you run out of people to swipe through.
Choose your interests, respond to prompts, and write an intro to complete your profile.

Open your Profile tab

Now that your account is set up, you’re ready to explore. Tap the profile icon on the navigation bar, then your profile picture to view or edit your profile. If you want to switch between Date, BFF, and Bizz – Bumble’s three connection mediums to find a romantic spark, a new friend, or a networking opportunity – tap the hidden menu bars in the left-hand corner.
Tip
Are you a college student? If so, tap the QR code icon to access your “Bee Key” – a unique QR code for exclusive access to buzzworthy events and neat treats. Just scan the QR code and verify your student email to join.

Send a like

To launch the Discovery tab where you can view and swipe through people’s profiles, tap the Hive icon on the navigation bar. You’ll find potential matches’ age, job, photos, prompt responses, interests, and more. You can also see what you have in common highlighted directly below the user’s first photo. Swipe right if you like what you see, or swipe left to pass. If you and another user both swipe right on each other, congrats! A chat will automatically be created in the Chats section on the navigation bar.
Tap the Discovery tab to view and swipe through people’s profiles.
Tip
You get 25 likes per day, so use them wisely. Plus, to find more details about Bumble’s premium plans and the perks of joining – from unlimited likes to viewing who’s already liked you – tap the profile icon on the navigation bar.

Give a Compliment

If a photo or prompt response catches your eye, tap the heart chat icon to send a Compliment. A Compliment is the equivalent of a like, and it gives the receiver the opportunity to respond and keep the conversation going. If you’re feeling bold and have a premium plan, make your feelings crystal clear by sending a SuperSwipe. Just tap the star icon on their profile and it will notify the user that you’d like to get to know them better.
Tip
You get two Compliments per week, but you can purchase more at any time.
Tap the yellow and back chat heart icon to send a compliment.

Filter your options

To narrow the age, distance, or spoken languages of the people on your feed, tap the Hive icon on the navigation bar, then the filter icon at the top of the screen. With a premium plan, you can apply the Advanced filters, like religion or smoking and drinking habits.

Meet your match

Now that you’re chatting with your new Bumble matches, take it to the next level and meet up for coffee, thrifting, or painting in the park to see if you sense any chemistry IRL. For Bumble BFFs, if a one-on-one first friend date feels like a lot of pressure, consider arranging a larger local meetup with several of your best matches – the more the merrier!
