The fascinating group of animals called dinosaurs became extinct some 65 million years ago (except for their feathered descendants). Donald R. Prothero is the author of over thirty titles in geology, paleontology, and evolutionary biology, including Weird Earth. He has taught college geology and paleontology for forty years at institutions such as Columbia University, Vassar College, Knox College, Pierce College, and Cal Poly Pomona.
