Caroline de Costa is a Cairns-based doctor and professor at James Cook University who has published numerous books about healthcare for women. Since 2015 she has also published three novels in her Detective Cass Diamond crime-fiction series; all are set in Cairns. The first, Double Madness, was shortlisted for the 2016 Davitt Awards of Sisters-in-Crime. Caroline’s short story Screwed won the Kerry Greenwood Award of the 2019 Sisters-in-Crime Scarlet Stiletto awards and her story The Fragrance of the Corpse Flower won the Art and Crime Award in the 2021 Scarlet Stiletto awards. She has also published Hidden Lives — the prequel to the Cass Diamond series in 2020. Buried Secrets continues the Cass Diamond series.
