About this audiobook

This Newbery Honor Book by E. B. White, author ofĀ Stuart LittleĀ andĀ The Trumpet of the Swan, is a classic of children's literature that is "just about perfect."
Ā
Some Pig. Humble. Radiant.Ā These are the words in Charlotte's Web, high up in Zuckerman's barn. Charlotte's spiderweb tells of her feelings for a little pig named Wilbur, who simply wants a friend. They also express the love of a girl named Fern, who saved Wilbur's life when he was born the runt of his litter.
Ā
E. B. White's beloved book is a tender novel of friendship, love, life, and death that will continue to be enjoyed by generations to come.
Ā
ā€œWhat the book is about is friendship on earth, affection and protection, adventure and miracle, life and death, trust and treachery, pleasure and pain, and the passing of time. As a piece of work it is just about perfect, and just about magical in the way it is done.ā€ā€”Eudora Welty, The New York Times Book Review
Ā
ā€œHigh caprice on a farm, handled with wit and wisdom, that serves to put an imperfect world back into joint.ā€ā€”The New Yorker
Ā
ā€œA fantasy that has the beauty and delicacy of the web itself.ā€ā€”The Saturday Review

I'm a 63 year old nanna and this book still makes me cry with happiness. Friendship, care, loyalty, commitment, so many more qualities for life are taught here. If you or your children and grandchildren have not read it...gift it to them. My mom gifted it to mešŸ’

Obviously the book is a wonderful classic, but if you're getting this for kids, the narration is flat, drab and one-dimensional. I wish I had held out for the Meryl Streep version coming in October. Disappointing.
