Based on extensive interviews with American, British, Australian, and Japanese veterans, as well as dairies, letters, and war crimes testimony, this is a harrowing account of a brutal clash of cultures, of a race war that escalated into total war.

John A. Glusman is vice president and editor in chief of W. W. Norton and Company. He has been a contributing editor to the Paris Review and has written for numerous publications, including The Economist, the Washington Post Book World, the Christian Science Monitor, and Rolling Stone.

Arthur Morey has acted in a number of productions, both Off-Broadway in New York and Off-Loop in Chicago. He’s won several Earphones Awards and has been repeatedly listed by AudioFile Magazine as a Best Voice over the years.
