I also own the paperback version of this book. It is the single volume Stalingrad book by COL Glantz (and COL House). I like the audio version of the book because parts of it are easier to hear spoken. There is a tremendous amount of information in this book, and it requires a couple readings to extract everything. Keep in mind that Dr. Glantz is a highly skilled analyst who extracted this information from archives. It is very detailed. My recommendation is to both formats--as reference.

Well written, unbiased, but the authors pull no punches about war crimes or mistakes of any side. This is unlike anything American students were taught grade school through university in the last 25 years unless you attended a service academy or the Citadel. Excellent work.
