I'm not finished with the book but I'm not pleased with the lack of vampires for as far as I've gotten into it. By now I should have gotten into the vampire bits....but there's not even so little as a sparklepire yet and now that I've read other reviews here well sounds like I'll still be unhappy about this book in the end. The main character is quite annoying doing anything to fit in, she lacks personality and is the person I'd avoid when I was this age. 🤣 Why can't this book be about her new friends, the goth group. They're more interesting, fun and probably not fakes looking to impress someone. I can only assume they are somehow involved with vampires in the next books because this story is kinda a broken record.

Honest Review: Not for me but I could see preteens liking it. Definitely took me back to high school when I used to be shy and awkward writing self insert fan fiction. I guess my biggest turn off is how this is a book about vampires but we don't get anything vampiry- it's not even mentioned. I know this is a series, but the title promised Vampires. I also didn't care for the mc as she had no backbone or any defining traits to set her apart. A lot of the story telling was redundant too. I don't need the MC's whole schedule or the name of every brand of clothing like Target leggings or Aeropostle jeans. It sounded like this was a first book written by a teen.

I started to read this on "read a book" day since it was short. I got like an hour into it before I decided I would likely never finish this. But between the 'product placement' descriptions and the lack of solid personality of the main character, I just couldn't. I understand a 15-16 y/o doesn't know who they are really; but Mary Sue snubs the goth kids and the mathletes in the cafeteria one chapter, and in the next we find out she has awards for literally every subject. She dresses like a punk, thinks like a goth, and acts like a prep. Really, credit to the audiobook reader for putting effort in that I am not sure the writer did.
