Dr. Edgar Mitchell (1930-2016), a graduate of MIT with a doctorate in aeronautics and astronautics, Captain in the Navy, was the founder of the Institute of Noetic Sciences and cofounder of the Association of Space Explorers. He was backup Lunar Module Pilot on Apollo 10 and 16 and flew as Lunar Module Pilot on Apollo 14.
