However, they never arrive and the widowed father, Anthony Parker, is struck by brain damage with memory loss. At one point he cannot remember his own name nor recognize Penny as his daughter. He is owner/publisher of The Riverview Star newspaper and is pursuing information concerning a car-theft gang. Fortunately, the time element is overcome for his recovery and this leads to thwarting the plans of the unscrupulous gang. Mildred Augustine Wirt Benson (1905–2002) was an American journalist and writer of children’s books. She wrote some of the earliest Nancy Drew mysteries and created the detective’s adventurous personality. Benson wrote under the Stratemeyer Syndicate pen name, Carolyn Keene, from 1929 to 1947 and contributed to twenty-three of the first thirty Nancy Drew mysteries, which were bestsellers.

John Rayburn is a veteran of sixty-two years in broadcasting. He served as a news/sports anchor and show host, and his TV newscast achieved the largest Share of Audience figures of any major-market TV newscast in the nation. John is a member of a Broadcast Pioneers Hall of Fame.
