About this audiobook

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas author Hunter S. Thompson rocked the literary world with his mind-bending style of Gonzo journalism. First published in 1966, Hell's Angels is Thompson's up-close and personal look at the infamous motorcycle gang during the time when its moniker was most feared. "[Thompson's] language is brilliant . [he] has presented us with a close view of a world most of us would never dare encounter."-New York Times

As always, the inventor of the genre pulls it off beautifully. An interesting snapshot of a bizarre wedge of our collective history, along with uncomfortable, contemporary parallels. The lesson? Writing off those who we find distasteful and frightening as ignorant savages is to overlook festering and malignant social ills simmering just below the surface.

This is essential Hunter S. Thompson. The book is famous for it's vivid descriptions of the Hells Angels and their unique place in the tumultuous time that was the 60s. It's all here; the bikes, the action, the drugs. More importantly though, Thompson digs into the media coverage, as flawed as it was, that made the Hell's Angels feared by all. In doing so, Thompson crafts a story here that's as timely in 2019 as it was in the 1960s

A Wild, unpredictable, journey with the Hell's Angels. I was afraid for Hunter and the LSD people's safety in the story. Hunter S Thompson is one of my favorite writers. I am so happy I found this in audiobook format.
