She is also the author of the weird western Vermilion, an io9 and NPR "Best Book" of 2015, and the British Fantasy Award-nominated collection, A Pretty Mouth. Her critically acclaimed short fiction ranges from science fiction about Denver International Airport conspiracy theories to Mythos tales that exist within those dark absences in Lovecraft's own work. She also once edited an erotica magazine called Congress, and hopes one day to get back to being a curatrix of fine smut. She lives in Colorado with her cat, the Toad.
