About the author

Jacquelyn Dowd Hall is Julia Cherry Spruill Professor Emerita at UNC-Chapel Hill. A member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, she is the author or coauthor of prizewinning books, including Revolt Against Chivalry and Like a Family.
