Little Women is a novel by American author Louisa May Alcott (1832–1888), which was originally published in two volumes in 1868 and 1869. Alcott wrote the books rapidly over several months at the request of her publisher. The novel follows the lives of four sisters—Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy March—detailing their passage from childhood to womanhood and is loosely based on the author and her three sisters.

This Special Edition celebrating the 150th year since publication includes excerpts from “Louisa May Alcott, her Life, Letters, and Journals” and “Little Women” Part 1 and 2. Foreword provided by Ashley Fontainne and Lillian Hansen

Louisa May Alcott (1832-1888) was a prolific American author known for her novel, Little Women, and its sequels, Little Men and Jo's Boys. She received instruction from several famous authors, including Henry David Thoreau, Ralph Waldo Emerson, and Nathaniel Hawthorne, and she is commonly considered to be the foremost female novelist of the Gilded Age.

Ashley Fontainne, an award-winning and internationally bestselling author, is an avid reader of mostly the classics. Her favorite reads are stories that immerse the reader deep into the human psyche and the monsters lurking within. Her short thriller, Number Seventy-Five, won the bronze medal in fiction/suspense at the 2013 Readers’ Favorite International Book Awards and is in production for a feature film. Her paranormal thriller, The Lie, won the gold medal for fiction/suspense at the 2013 Illumination Book Awards and is also in production for a feature film entitled Foreseen.
