About this audiobook

The causes of Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder range from severe neglect to monstrous abuse. Many survivors grew up in houses that were not homes-in families that were as loveless as orphanages and sometimes as dangerous. If you felt unwanted, unliked, rejected, hated, and/or despised for a lengthy portion of your childhood, trauma may be deeply engrained in your mind, soul, and body. This book is a practical guide to recovering from lingering childhood trauma. It is copiously illustrated with examples of the author's and his clients' journeys of recovering. It is a comprehensive self-help guide for working through the toxic legacy of the past and for achieving a rich and fulfilling life.

This Audiobook need titles on each numbered chapter. The subject is too important to just leave blank. Can do better for $26! :(

Truly life-changing. Many times I was triggered listening to this book, but I now understand so much more of myself and my experience. I finally feel understood. I know I have a long recovery ahead, but this book has made me feel like that's truly possible. Listening to Pete's words has been a profound experience of re-parenting. Be prepared to sob at the end, which (for me at least) triggered an emotional flashback into the "abandonment mélange". Lean into it. We're not abandoning ourselves anymore ❤️

Worth a listen -- you don't even have to identify as someone who went through childhood trauma for it to be worth your time! Genuinely, it's well written, refreshing, thought-provoking and amusing :) Pick a place and read -- you won't find a page (or audio equivalent) where some comment doesn't pique your interest
